Meet the Veterinarians

  • Dr.
    R. D. Childers

    Veterinarian, Partner. Dr. Childers has been practicing veterinary medicine in Northeast Mississippi since 1978. Originally from Ashland, MS he participated in the local 4-H and FFA programs as well as played High School basketball at Ashland High. After graduating high school he completed he spent the next three years completing his undergraduate degree at Mississippi State University before entering Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Childers founded Willow Bend Animal Clinic in Holly Springs in August of 1978 and has been practicing ever since. Dr. Childers was honored to be named Mississippi Veterinarian of the Year in 2010. Dr. Childers makes his home in Holly Springs with his wife Sherry and his three daughters: Amanda, Emily, and Olivia. Dr. Childers’ wife, the other Dr. Childers, works at Blue Mountain College and both are actively involved in the Tippah and Union County communities. Dr. Childers is a strong supporter of community involvement and is on many local boards as well as serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church.

  • Dr. M. A. Thompson

    Veterinarian, Partner. Dr. Thompson is a Board Certified Theriogenologist and currently serves as the President of the Society of Theriogenology. Dr. Thompson was selected as Mississippi Veterinarian of the Year in 2015.  Dr. Thompson has served as the President of the National Society of Theriogenology and has lectured nationwide.  Dr. Thompson also makes his home in Holly Springs with his wife Terry and his two children: Rebecca and Josh.  Dr. Thompson is also an active member in the community and serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church.

    A. B. Hardy
    Associate Veterinarian

    Doctor Hardy joined our family in March 2019, as an Associate Veterinarian. He grew up in Columbus, Mississippi, working on his family’s cattle operation, where his love for animals began. Dr. Hardy was accepted into the early entry program at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences. After graduating, Dr. Hardy practiced veterinary medicine in Columbus before moving to New Albany. In his free time, he enjoys drawing, woodworking, and fishing. He is in the process of adopting a chocolate lab mix named Mossy, who was abandoned at the clinic. Dr. Hardy provides quality medical and surgical care to a variety of large and small animals. He is committed to educating their owners in keeping their pets healthy.

    G. A. Huffman
    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Andrew Huffman is a native of Chickasaw County, Mississippi.  He is a 2001 graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  He worked in a two hospital mixed animal practice in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for twenty-two years but recently returned to North Mississippi to join New Albany Animal Clinic.  Dr. Huffman enjoys working with both large and small animals, and has extensive experience in health maintenance, dentistry, medicine, surgery, reproduction, herd health, as well as ambulatory and emergency care.  In his free time, Dr. Huffman enjoys restoring antique tractors and trucks and working on his family's farm.

    C. A. Campbell
    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Campbell joined New Albany Animal Clinic in 2023 as an associate veterinarian.  She was born and raised in North Mississippi.  Dr. Campbell met her husband, Josh, in high school. After graduation, they both attended Mississippi State University where Dr. Campbell earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as well as her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Campbell and Josh now make their home in Myrtle with their Siberian Huskies, Arabian horses, cats, chickens, and goats.  Her professional interests include equine and canine reproduction as well as preventative healthcare.  She enjoys focusing on building a strong foundation for healthy lifestyles of both large and small animals.  Outside of the clinic, you can find Dr. Campbell on the trail training her Arabian horses for endurance competitions of 50 or 100 miles or hiking with her four huskies.  Dr. Campbell is a proud member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Society of Theriogenology, and the American Endurance Ride Conference.
